Acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture:
Traditional Chinese Medicine is based off of the belief that the body is made up of energy flow known as "chi" or "qi". An imbalance of this "chi" (qi) is what causes diseases. The practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine uses acupuncture to restore this balance. Acupuncture has been the treatment of choice in the eastern part of the world for thousands of years. It has only recently begun to infiltrate the western world.
Biomedical Acupuncture, while ancient in nature, has a solid scientific grounding. TCM posits that all medical problems arise from imbalances in an individual's Qi, which is the flow of natural energy balancing all of the body's diverse systems. This energy flows along meridians, or channels, through the body's connective tissue. If there is a disturbance in this energy flow, illness and pain can result. Imbalances can be caused by anything from injury and emotional stress to poor nutrition or other habits. Biomedical acupuncture continues from there by also addressing the body's nervous and endocrine (hormone) systems.
